» BLING!

[07:57 PM]

You have just won one million dollars (WOOT!):

1. Who do you call first?
I don't know. I don't know if I'd call anyone.

2. What is the first thing you buy for yourself?
A Jeep TJ Rubicon.

3. What is the first thing you buy for someone else?
I'd pay off my parents' mortgage on this house.

4. Do you give any away? If yes, to whom?
I don't know if I'd just hand it to people, but I'd probably take a bunch of friends to Mexico or something fun like that. Ally and I would fly to wherever to see the Boston Post, and Vanessa and I would do our dream new year's celebration: party in Fiji then cross the international date line and party in BC or CA!

5. Do you invest any? If so, how?
BONDS! Tech stocks are too volatile.

» She's So High

[06:49 PM]

I handed in my game today. I got 93.5/95 because I did a shitty proposal (3.5/5). BAH. My assignments were okay too. I think I only lost a mark or two out of 4 or 5 programs we looked at. I hope this means that my CS mark will be pulled up to a 90, but that would depend on how horridly I did on the (written) exam.

I have been eating chocolate and other assorted yummy foods and watching Six Feet Under all afternoon. WOOT!

If anyone knows how to make the applet work in the web browser let me know. Right now it keeps saying "Applet notinited." Click to see what I mean.

I'm going to spend the rest of the evening eating food and watching Six Feet Under. WOOT WOOT!

» The End is Near

[05:46 PM]

I wrote my Data Management and World Issues exams today. They were both surprisingly easy. That could mean one of two things: I studied adequately (Vanessa and I were up past 12 cramming for DM at her house and then I came home and crammed some more, took at look at WI for all of two minutes and went to bed at about 3ish) or I got a lot of stuff wrong and don't know it yet.

I have my solitaire game due for Comp. Sci. on Wednesday and I'm finished my seventh semester of high school. It is progressing, but not at the rate I'd hoped it would. The cards aren't moving into the decks properly. Bah.

I <3 Six Feet Under (THANKS STEVE!!!!!). I'm so tempted to watch the whole box set right now but I just have to finish a teeeensy bit of work. Rico is my new TV boyfriend. ;)

» YAY, EXAMS!! =D

[01:34 AM]

I'm delighted that this bloody semester is over. I abhorred the school/homework aspect of it but I adored everything else. Okay well not EVERYTHING else, but most of it. And I suppose its not EXACTLY over (DM and WI on Monday, CS final project on Wednesday; I already wrote my CS exam in class) but at least there are no more classes, not that it matters.

I haven't been at school too much the past two weeks. Skipping and slacking, waking up at 9 and eating a PROPER breakfast (two scrambled eggs, two pieces of toast with marmalade, coffee) is quite the life. I don't know if it’s even called skipping when you don't even GO to school, rather than miss a class here and there.

I also haven't been swimming a lot. That makes me sad. I’d planned on going lane swimming tonight but I ended up forgetting to (i.e. I had to run some errands before the mall closed) because Janette and I were studying at the library ALL FUCKING DAY, YO. I left just before close and I was there from about 12ish. On the bright side, I did run into Ally and Joyce at the mall. They were at Boston Post show last night, as was Chris. Ally took a picture with Scott (yes, Scott MOFFATT). He looks quite bitchy, to the point it rivals my bitchiness. I, however, was M.I.A. =*(

Instead I went to Didomi (EVERYONE was back for Chinese New Year) and so I pestered Alex and Steve with my DM review ;) (well not really, I figured most of it out on my own). Alex lended me the Chronicles of Narnia box set. He had a coronary when we were on the phone earlier that evening and I told him I’d only watched the movies. Now that I think of it, when I was in grade 6 or so, my school put on the musical The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and that’s how I knew it was the one about the closet and they walk through it and yada yada, you know the rest. If you don’t Alex will have a coronary and screech at you, but its okay because he means well. (Alex: I’m on Chapter 2 of The Magician’s Nephew.)

Got to Kuba’s bash at about 11 and chilled there for a bit. I was feeling very blah and I almost didn't go but then I thought how I hadn't seen most people too much in the past couple of weeks, so I went. Everyone (I’m so not kidding, EVERYONE!!!) was there, and it ended up being majorly fun. However his dog was quite terrifying so Melissa and I clung onto each other for dear life, whimpered, and tried not to make any sudden movements. All in all, I'm glad I decided to go at the last minute and I didn’t lose any windshield wipers (*phew!*).

I started my apprenticeship at Cenntennial Pool this morning. Kids are so cute when they’re not crying or screaming.

I have no batteries of any sort, AA or AAA. I've switched back to a WIRED keyboard and mouse. =*( WOE IS ME.

» Tow Truck Episode 2

[11:33 AM]

I thought I'd have an easy day yesterday. No band (opening night) so just swim practice and an eye exam. So I went to the mall after swimming and I got my new prescription yada yada, I go back to my car and I start it and then it DIED. I'm thinking NO. DON'T FUCKING DIE, CAR! But no, that wasn't the case. I called Kuba and he came over to try to help me boost it but that didn't work.

I ended up calling a tow truck and waiting 4 hours for it. I was sooooooo coooolld even though I was in the mall because I ended up going inside and outside so much (to watch for my parents coming or the tow truck). FINALLY my mom came and we had dinner at the Pickle Barrel and the tow truck came and yada yada I got home just before 11. E-FUCKING-LEVEN! I was so tired so I called in sick today. My poor bones and head hurt so much. =*( And my poor Old Girl. I hope she's okay. She's just sitting in my garage now.

I'm just glad I was done all my assignments on Wednesday. All I have left now are studying for three exams and my Java applet game (which is not working out; I'm kinda worried).

    Wrath of a Woman
» There is No 'I' in 'Team'

    [06:28 PM]

((DISCLAIMER: If you read this and you feel offended, keep in mind it's most likely because of YOUR actions and not because of my keen observations.))

I didn't go to school today because I wasn't feeling so hot. Mind you I've been feeling nasty all weekend, rigged up on pain killers and echanacia, but I felt just as nasty today so I took the day off. I did however, decide to haul my ass to the pool (I enjoy swimming, so it's hardly hauling, and I swam yesterday too and it made me feel a bit better) only to find that the other two people there were the coaches.

I was pretty irked. We were ALL irked. HELLO, we only have three more practices until exam week, during which we have no scheduled practices, and then immediately after that is the Championships. People have a thing with not showing up for practice, then complaining about not getting first at meets. No pain, no gain, darlings. I'm sick of people saying "I'm not going to practice today 'cuz I don't FEEL like it/'cuz I'm on my period," or "I'm not going because I have to take up a quiz." A QUIZ!! Gosh. You wrote it already; taking it up yourself won't make your mark any higher than if a friend took it up for you. If you don't fucking FEEL like it then maybe you shouldn't have signed up for it in the first place.

Swimming is a team sport. We get ranked as teams according to the number of points we get for each 1-6 place in events. Just because your entire team isn't in the pool simultaneously when you're competing doesn't mean that you don't work together as a team.

In music, if you miss ONE rehearsal you get fucking TOLD, and if it's really close to the festival/show, you just simply don't get to perform. I think they should do that for swim team, too.

If you can't be dedicated enough to show up for practice and go to meets because "school is [your] first priority" and you are unable to juggle both things, then you don't deserve to write "SWIM TEAM" on your university applications. Universities aren't interested in how many school teams and clubs you can sign up for and then deadbeat on; they want to know how well you can manage your time and excell at everything you do.

I'm not saying "I so great because I swim 25 hours a week and don't give a shit about my marks" because that's not true. What I am saying is that I'm at a pool 5 days a week (not always for swim practice but for courses and volunteering and whatnot), I rehearse 3 (4 if you count a lesson) days a week, I keep on top of my schoolwork, AND I STILL HAVE A SOCIAL LIFE. If I can do it, anyone else can, too. It has NOTHING to do with priorities. It's about committment and time management, and if you can't handle those two things, you aren't worthy of saying you can.

» The Problem Now of Course is to Simply Hold Your Horses

    [12:05 AM]

Happy (belated!) 4th birthday, Incensed! xoxo.

This past week was so exhausting. Between Thursday and Friday, I got about 6 hours of sleep (that is for BOTH days). I stayed up studying on Wednesday night for a test on Thursday but I didn't sleep very well so I woke up ridiculously early on Thursday and did more review. I coudln't really sleep on Thursday night (which was BAD since I had a meet on Friday) because I was sooo overtired. I had a practice and a rehearsal then I watched CSI and ER and I didn't go to bed 'til after 2 because I just couldn't fall asleep.

I had so much fun on Friday. Janette came to guard and she was on 30 minute shifts and had 1 hour breaks so that was fun. =) I did 200 Free relay (dq'ed, but oh well, it's happened before), 50 Free (kinda sucked), 100 Back (blew EVERY turn but still managed a 6th; go me!!!), and 100 Breast (REALLY sucked, my time was 2 mins!). For my 100 Back, one turn was actually OKAY, one was MEHHH and one of them I flipped over and realized I was too far from the wall and there was nothing I could do except drift. Then I did my turn reallyreallyreally fucking fast and prayed even harder that my feet would reach the wall (so I could push off) and BOOOYEAHHHHH my toes caught it and I pushed soooo hard off it. Not the greatest but it beats completely missing the wall any day.

I think I'm coming down with a cold or something. I'm taking echanacia like crazy. I have a multitude of strange bruises on my legs. I don't know how I got them. I'm also extremely tired, but that's probably due to overworking and undersleeping.

I also got an LJ. Add me! http://livejournal.com/~tinamonster. I wrote stuff about today and last night in it 'cuz I was itching to use it and Incensed was in the process of renewing the domain name so I couldn't access it for a bit but now everything's good and I think I'm still gonna use Stellar more.

» Blood In My Mouth Beats Blood on the Ground

    [12:33 AM]

Consider that my new year's resolution.

Maybe it's because I'm a girl, or maybe it's because I'm an only child, or perhaps its genetic, but if you haven't already noticed, I EXTREMELY AM IRRITABLE, AND I FEEL QUITE IRRITATED RIGHT NOW. >=6

Fuck you, Data Management, World Issues, CS school, and a wild assortment of assholes. I think I might stay home tomorrow because I'm so irked.

I want to go outlet shopping in Boston or Niagara over exam week since the dollar is sooo fucking high (77.99 cents US, baby!). According to Newsworld, it isn't good to have a high loonie because it has severe economic repercussions (re: deep recession about 10 years ago when the dollar was this high), so I better make the most of it.

Now that its been about two weeks since I did my uni apps, I think I don't want to do Poli Sci anymore. OOOOOPS, considering all 5 programs I applied for were Poli Sci. But on the flipside, I don't want to (not to mention I'm quite unqualified to, seeing I have no math or science prereqs) do anything else except for swim and play trumpet, so whatever (wo)man; Poli Sci, here goes nothing.

» Super Perfundo on the Early Eve of Your Day

    [10:45 PM]

This New Year’s Eve was, undoubtedly, the best so far.

Yesterday, Jones, Dylan and I went to Kensington Market/Chinatown. We walked from Spadina and Dundas to the Movenpicks near the Hockey Hall of Fame, where we had an excellent lunch. En route and afterwards, we posed and took random pictures in the city, including one with Glen Gould in front of the Glen Gould Studio.

In the evening we headed up to Jono’s and partied the night away. From Russ forgetting what year it was to the “Millennium Bug” light up headband antennae from four years ago, it was a very enjoyable and memorable evening. It’s hard to believe time passes so quickly. Dylan recalled that I called him in Vancouver last year, and how we counted down on the phone three hours after New Years in Toronto. I couldn’t believe that was an entire YEAR ago. We played pool and listened to Jones’ wicked vinyl collection all night. Even though it sounded the same as cds, knowing that it was vinyl and watching the disc spin slowly made the atmosphere just that much more ambient. Vinyl rocks. There is NOTHING like counting down with a bunch of your friends at the top of your lungs to an Atomic clock with Queen’s “We Are the Champions” spinning at full blast, and popping three bottles of champagne.

Things that are cool: Waking Life and Frank Sinatra
Things that are hot: Keanu Reeves and the issue of Arena (that I paid $12 for!) that he graces the cover of.
