Life or Something Like It
» I'MMA LIFEGUARD!

[08:43 PM]

Work has been pretty fun. Training was uber-boring, but a lot of the people I met were really cool cats and I suppose it was as fun as training would be.

Pools were supposed to open yesterday, but ours did not. However, that didn't dampen our spirits (PUNishment, Sam!) as my head guard, Jamie, is an uber-cool cat, quite like myself! ;) We're lacking a third guard at the moment, but I suppose it's okay. Jamie and I are Markham buddies (she's from Thornhill) and UT buddies too! Our pool got painted yesterday. This morning, the paint had dried but we had no water so we tanned in an empty pool. It was wicked, because it was white gloss paint so the sun was reflecting like crazy. I got some nice colour. My skin doesn't look very Chinese anymore (yellowpasty, haha).

And so that is work in a nutshell. I have to work tomorrow from 10-7, but I get time x 1.5 and some more sun, so I'm not complaining. I'm hoping for Friday off so I have some time to recover (Vanessa, CALL MEEEEE!!!) and work full weekend shifts. WOOOT!

Life or Something Like It
» Zzzzzzzz required

[01:47 AM]

I haven’t been on the computer since Wednesday night.

In a nutshell, let’s just say in these few days I found out that getting home at 2am and waking up for work at 6:30am (or on the weekends at about 8ish) doesn’t work very well.

Thursday: Training, BBQ at Pierre’s.

Friday: Got my uniform at training, went to see Jim Smith Band (Scott Christian, our bassist for Alumni Jazz, plays bass!) @ the Blue Moon Bar with Cathy and Mike. I also had ackee for the first time (dinner @ Cathy's). It was SOOOO AWESOME!!!!!!!!

Saturday: Party PAR-FUCKING-TAY!!!!! at Tammy’s. Cathy, Vanessa, Shari, Steph and I went to Chris’ friend Dane’s house for a bit and then we went back to Tammy’s with all Chris and company. MUCHOS FUNNOS, BRUCHETTAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, et al. ;) I have next to no recollection of what occurred during the day prior to the party.

Sunday: Church, swimsuit shopping (I bought 3 one-pieces, two of them are really pretty and one is kinda boring) and haircut. I had a rehearsal for Church Orchestra at 7 but my dad popped the circuit breaker for the exterior outlets and so our garage opener stopped working and so I couldn’t go until that was fixed. By the time it was, I’d missed my rehearsal. =*( I played piano for a while instead.

Tomorrow I have my last training session, and the day after is my first day of work: lifeguarding in the former city North York (or the current city of Toronto, but I thought North York was a little more specific).

Tomorrow is also Election Day!!! My logic processes have narrowed it to Liberal or NDP:

  • I don't agree with taking money away from cities and putting it into rural Albertan farming communities, seeing that it is the cities that generates the most money for our country
  • I met the Green Party candidate when we invited guest speakers for a seminar in World Politics, and I didn't agree with what I heard
  • There is no Bloc Quebecois candidate in my riding
  • There is no Guiness Party candidate in my riding (c'mon! St. Pat's a national holiday? I'm SO in!)

Mind you, I can't say I'm fond of the whole Bill C-250 dealio (hate crime laws should most definitely NOT include gender orientation. Don't even get me started; I did an entire debate in Politics on this! Maybe in another entry I'll elaborate) and the sponsorship scandal (both of which are Liberal fiascos), nor can I say I agree with socialism in general, but I like the cutting of tuitions by 10% quite a bit. Oh, and Jack Layton is my friend's (Jones') uncle. I wouldn't vote for him solely because of that, though!

I feel that this election has come down to picking your poison, but isn't that what it always is, picking who to screw you over and lie to your face? Ahh... politics. =) When my dad told my grandpa (his dad) that I was going into PSci, he was slightly "ai ya...". (Off topic!)

Good grief, I need to get to sleep. *clunk*

    » The Last, Last Time

    [10:23 PM]

As Shari and I walked to her car today after exam feedback, I realized that this was the last, last time we'd ever do that. There was the last day of classes, the last exam, and now this. Does anyone remember the John Cech book, Very Last First Time? We'll it's kind of like that, but the last, last time.

In lieu of this, feel free to join me in celebration =)

» This Weekend and Pilate Dates (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

    [10:14 AM]

Friday: Dindin with the gang superearly (the guys went up to Jono's cottage, Julie had karate), btea with Ally M., Gina, Galen, Steph, and a lot of other people at Green Grove 'til 12:30ish (where we ran into Alex and some of his WLU homies, haha). Then Alex and I were going to make our "rounds" but we went to the Firkin and met up with a bunch of people there instead.

Saturday: Markham Village Festival (still is and will always be the singlemost dangerous gig of the year!), shopping with my mom (she bought me a silver trumpet ring and a collage photo frame thing), rehearsal, crashage (even though it's technically been "summer" for me since Wednesday I'd still been going to bed at absolutely ungodly hours, not because I was studying per se, either!).

Sunday: training, crashage, mowing lawn, crashage.

I like the word crash and I like suffix "-age," too.

    Oakville Waterfront Festival

    July 24 - Guelph, ON

» Four Years in the Making

    [07:03 PM]

I AM DONE HIGH SCHOOL. IT FEELS FUCKING WICKED.

I was grinning like a mofo from ear to ear as I tripled check my World Politics exam this afternoon. I have never grinned during an exam, ever.

After that, I met up with the gang at Swiss Chalet. We had a nice dinner, and the guys are off to Jono's cottage, Julie's at karate, and some other's went to a concert.

    I am so elated.

(Is that optimistic enough for you, Steve? *hugs*)

» "And in this moment I am happy."

    [09:34 PM]

This is the first time ever that I can honestly say that my life is perfect, perfect being I have achieved everything I had intended to, and that I have nothing to complain about. I am not complaining about exams, not because they're going to be easy (for the record, they're not). I am merely going to barrel right through them and do the best that I can.

» The Official Prom 2004 Entry

    [08:27 PM]

I'm too lazy to do a play by play, so I'm making an online scrapbook instead. So far I have only the pictures I scanned; hopefully I will be adding more (especially from the afterparties and cottage) soon.

» The Unofficial Prom 2004 Entry

    [12:18 AM]

This is not the play-by-play-with-photographic-evidence-of-the-past-72-hours entry you're expecting because:

    1) I just got back from the cottage at like 9pm
    2) I haven't resized and uploaded/developed and scanned ANY photos
    3) I have no recollection of suspicious chunks of all 3 evenings (1 at Kuba's and 2 at Jono's cottage)

Hopefully the OFFICIAL Prom 2004 entry will be along in the next few days.

But just very briefly: I had an unbelievably wicked and awesome time with my friends all weekend long. Every second, from the pre-prom 'til the ride back home from the cottage was perfect and amazing. Just sit tight; details and pix soon. =)
