Feverish essay writing, a new job, and sleep deprivation has left me desolate and frequently headache-y. I wouldn't feel even half as bad if what I'm slaving over isn't becoming so damn ugly. I'm accustomed to headaches and sleep deprivation, but not the helplessness of impending defeat. It's not enough to pray for mercy, I've tried... I'm screaming, but my needs have chained me to the ground. 20 February 2005Life or Something Like It» Less Is More [10:36 PM]
Reading week was disappointing in terms of the amount of work I'd anticipated to do in comparison to the amount of work I actually got done. However, I have learned one thing. It kind of has to do with one of my new year's resolutions (the one about cheap/bad alcohol). From now on, I'm going to enjoy nicer things, even if it means less things. This means no more drinking to get drunk with cheap booze, no more drugstore cosmetics (I've actually sworn those off since the summer), and no more cheap chocolate (sugary wax!). Although these economical alternatives of these products are not bad at all, they're also not necessary at all (you're not going to DIE without booze, chocolate, and nail polish), so I plan on doing without them altogether--that is, until I can afford to enjoy the nice stuff, even if it means indulging in them much less often. No more Pur Source, no more Bonne Belle, no more Pot of Gold. Here's to trying. =) 16 February 2005Life or Something Like It» Scary [04:51 PM]
After lunch today, Ama, Alex and I decided to go to Remenyi's on Bloor West (best. store. ever. !!!). We were just walking out of St. Hilda's when my tongue got stuck in my braces. I was on the verge of crying, Alex looked like he was on the verge of losing his lunch, while Ama, the only person who had it all together, tried to fish my tongue out of the tight space between my teeth and the wire. I kept trying to say "Health Centre! Health Centre!" while pointing in a general southwesterly direction, but they just kept saying "WE KNOW YOU'RE STUCK, HANG ON!" Eventually, I just took a deep breath, relaxed a little, and focussed on wiggling my tongue out. It worked, everyone was relieved, and we continued on to Remenyi's. 13 February 2005Life or Something Like It» Red Bull, Vodka, and Other Legal (mis?)Adventures [05:57 PM]
This week has been a very weird week, but I won't talk about the weird stuff, just the fun stuff. It would weird you out too much. On Tuesday, I got carded at the LCBO--it made my day. Ama and Laura had planned this crazy surprise for me, and I fell for all of it! They made me a big hole/hideout/fort out of bedsheets in Ama's room. When I got there (thinking Ama was having a computer emergency), everything was dark and candlelit, and as soon as I stepped in, Pilate started playing (on the stereo, not in real life unfortunately!). Everyone was there, and I was so happy. Then we flambéd some fruit (everyone sang happy birthday in the dark while the fruit and whiskey burned in the pan) and we had that ice cream and then went out to Gabby's. On Friday, I wrote the dreaded ECO midterm. It went okay, and I was SO glad when it was done. In the evening, Ama and I drank a mickey of Bailey's and then I went to Chestnut to visit Jono, Kuba, James, and Russ. Much fun was had that evening. Saturday, most of which was spent recovering, was less fun. However, when that passed, it was all good. I ended up chilling with some friends I've known since elementary school and it was just SO neat catching up and chilling. It's funny how people change, but they still have their -isms. Later in the evening, Zara and I went to get some Red Bull, which we mixed with the water of life (aka vodka). We chilled to Hawksley, ranted and raved, and worked on our plans to take over the world. Today, I woke up feeling crappy (surprise, surprise!) but I felt fine very soon and Ama made a kickass brunch. Then Laura, Ama, and I went shopping. Tonight we are celebrating Hatentines; it promises to be a riot (anything with me, really, is a riot ;D). Ally: I miss you too! I will see you soon. 5 February 2005Webbyness» Stolen from Sam's LJ [01:17 AM]
