Silverglitter.net

This personal domain served as my creative outlet from 2000-2002. I ran various projects of interest to me, and expanded my knowledge of webdesign. The following are a few of my personal favourite layouts and a little bit about them.

version 3

Software used: Paint Shop Pro, CuteHTML, CuteFTP, Blogger

Coding skills used: HTML

Description: A very early layout, but I liked the simplicity--a nice change from frames frames and more frames--and the quiet elegance.

version 4

Software used: Paint Shop Pro, CuteHTML, CuteFTP, MapEdit, Blogger

Coding skills used: HTML (frames, image map), a javascript from bratta.com

Description: The main navigation was an image map of the leaves graphic. More links would appear in the frame above it and then the main content would appear in the large frame on the right. The "scrolly-box" script was used in the main content frame.

version 5

Software used: Photoshop 5.0, CuteHTML, CuteFTP, MapEdit, Blogger

Coding skills used: HTML, Javascript (pop-up boxes)

Description: The main navigation was the image map in the upper left corner of the screen. Each section would pop up in its own pop-up window.

version 5: cynic

Simple frames split the pop-up window into two sections. The top section contained a graphic with an image map. The links opened in the bottom section.

version 5: ink

This pop up window was split into four frames. The upper left frame with the pansy flower was the main navigation. The main content appeared in the lower right frame. I took the picture of the pansy myself using my Pentax Espio 105G, scanned it, and cropped it a bit in Photoshop.

version 5: bytes

This layout was so incredibly simple. A layered/blended image of various technological things and a screenshot of my e-mail client at the time was the image map of the main navigation which were simply pages, unframed and without tables.

version 6

Software used: Photoshop 5.0, CuteHTML, CuteFTP, MapEdit, Blogger

Coding skills used: HTML, CSS, Javascript (pop-up boxes)

Photo credit(s): TonyStone.com, an old CD of stock photos

Description: This layout was a little bit different because my weblog wasn't on the index page. The links on the index page opened into either pop-up windows or new windows.

version 6: weblog

Simple frames held the blog on the left and a large picture with an image map navigation menu (links on far right hand side).

version 6: silverglitter

This pop up window had the rest of the content of the site. Split into three frames with the main window being the middle section. One of my personal favourites.
